Ratan Tata, Tata Sons’ chairman emeritus, passes away in a Mumbai hospital at age 86.

Tata Sons’ chairman emeritus Ratan Tata passed away at a Mumbai hospital on Wednesday. He had been receiving treatment in critical condition and had spent the last few days in intensive care at the hospital. Due to his advanced age and associated medical issues, Ratan Tata, 86, announced on Monday that he was the subject of a normal medical investigation.

Senior Mumbai Police officers were alerted to the news of famed industrialist Ratan Tata’s passing, and with security in mind, security at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital would soon be heightened. Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, is rumored to be planning to visit the hospital late at night.

Earlier this week, there were multiple reports that Ratan Tata had been admitted to the hospital. However, he had reassured the public that he was just getting regular exams because of his age and associated health issues.

In Mumbai, Ratan Tata’s illness grew worse.

But worries increased when it was reported that his condition had gotten worse. In response to the speculations circulating concerning his health, Ratan Tata stated on social media on Monday, “There is no reason for fear. I’m still in a fantastic mood. Tata requested that the public and media refrain from disseminating false information, clarifying that his medical evaluations were routine.

It should be mentioned that Ratan Tata, who became chairman of Tata Sons in 1991, is a well-known personality in the Indian industry. By acquiring businesses like Tetley, Corus, and Jaguar Land Rover, he turned the Tata Group—which was based mostly in India—into a multinational force during his tenure at Tata Sons.

Tata truly expanded into a multibillion dollar worldwide commercial empire under his direction. Following Tata’s retirement in December 2012, Cyrus Mistry took over as CEO until his death in an automobile accident in 2022.

Sending out condolences in droves:

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed his sadness at Shri Ratan Tata’s passing to X. Known for his enormous contributions to our economy, trade, and industry, he was a Titan of Indian industry. My sincere sympathies go out to his loved ones, friends, and supporters. May peace be upon his soul.”
