Arvind Kejriwal: “Why Not Today?” BJP Asks About His 48-Hour Resignation.

New Delhi: At a party meeting this afternoon, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal shockingly announced his resignation from the position, two days after being given release and leaving jail after a six-month sentence. “I will step down as Chief Minister in two days. I refuse to take that chair until the people have rendered their decision. Delhi will hold elections in a few months. I shall now receive justice from the people’s court after receiving justice from the legal court. Only at the people’s command will I take the Chief Minister’s seat,” he declared.
“I would like to know if Kejriwal is guilty or innocent among the people of Delhi. “Vote for me if I have worked hard,” he said, announcing that the AAP MLAs would meet in the next two days to select the new Chief Minister for the nation’s capital.

Following his departure, a party member will be named Chief Minister, according to the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He promised to travel among them and solicit their support. In addition, Mr. Kejriwal insisted that the February elections in the nation’s capital be rescheduled for November in conjunction with the Maharashtra state elections.

Mr. Kejriwal went on the offensive against the Narendra Modi government in his speech to the AAP workers, claiming that it was even more autocratic than the British.

He claimed that despite being detained, he chose to remain Chief Minister because he wished to preserve democracy. “Cases have been filed against Chief Ministers Siddaramaiah of Karnataka, Pinarayi Vijayan of Kerala, and Mamata didi (Banerjee) of Bengal. I want to make an appeal to non-BJP members: if they file complaints against you, don’t quit. This is how they play now,” he declared.

Mr. Kejriwal claimed to have discussed the matter with former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia as well. Recently, Mr. Sisodia was also granted bail in relation to charges of corruption over Delhi’s now-cancelled liquor legislation. “I spoke with Manish, and he also stated that he won’t deal with the post until after individuals have confirmed that we are sincere. The future of Sisodia and me is now in your hands,” he declared.

AAP sources claim that yesterday, in a meeting with senior party officials, Mr. Kejriwal announced his decision to step down. AAP officials outlined the plan for this action at a separate meeting held at Mr. Sisodia’s home.

Harish Khurana of the BJP questioned why the AAP politician is indulging in theater in response to the startling news. Why is it 48 hours later? It’s best for him to step down now. He’s done this before as well. Delhi residents want to know why he can’t sign paperwork or visit the secretariat. So what’s the point? When asked if the BJP was prepared for early elections, Mr. Khurana said, “We are prepared, whether they take place today or tomorrow. After 25 years, we’ll take back control in Delhi.”
