Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train: Status, Route & Covered Cities

Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train: In an effort to improve commuter convenience and cut down on travel time, India is prepared to launch the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, which will increase the country’s high-speed urban rail network. About 508 kilometers will be covered by this new project. It is anticipated that this railway ministry project will transform long-distance travel by offering a quicker and more effective mode of transit.

The Times of India reported that the Central Government is also thinking of extending the bullet train line to cover Amritsar, the Delhi area, and other towns. The only legally approved high-speed rail project at the moment is the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told the Rajya Sabha.

Japan is providing financial and technical support for the development of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project. It will greatly improve connection between major cities in western India by connecting 12 important stations, including Mumbai, Thane, Surat, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, and Sabarmati. In addition, construction has begun on India’s first underwater tunnel, the first of its kind in the nation and around 21 kilometers long.

Furthermore, the Railway Ministry is preparing the Varanasi-Howrah and Delhi-Varanasi routes, including possible extensions across Uttar Pradesh. However, the Central Government’s funding decisions, financial feasibility studies, and DPR completion will all be necessary before these projects can be approved in the end.
