His father, Sukhwinder Bawa, is a celebrated cricket coach who has been instrumental in the careers of Indian internationals such as Yuvraj Singh and VRV Singh. Sukhwinder, a talented player in cricket and hockey, shifted to coaching after sustaining a spine injury in his 20s and devoted his life to developing young talent.

Raj, like his father and grandfather, Trilochan Singh—an Olympic Gold Medalist hockey player—has already made his presence felt in the world of cricket.
