Rishabh Pant was taken to Roorkee Saksham Hospital during the chaos, and then to Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, an orthopedic surgeon at Max Hospital in Dehradun. Dehradun doctors put his damaged leg in a splint, but because it was swollen, they did not perform a thorough evaluation of his knee and ankle. There was further therapy, including facial and head plastic surgery. The battered body wasn’t unstable, so it was healthy.
Finally, when surgeons looked at the knee of Pant, the picture was gruesome: all the major stabilizing ligaments ACL, PCL, lateral collateral, medial collateral, the tendons and tissue in the muscles, had been damaged. This complete-range ligament destruction normally requires surgical re-construction. And the Pant case was out of line. Knee stabilized to become a condition that was healed without surgery with supervised exposure; his medical team was witnessing a third miracle since the knee stabilized and his body could heal itself.
