Digital Desk, New Delhi: On Monday, during the third day of his US visit in New York, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had bilateral discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Earlier, on August 23, during his visit to Ukraine, PM Modi met with Zelensky.
PM Modi is playing a crucial role in resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict. He is also in contact with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the issue. India is taking initiatives for peace and a ceasefire in the Russia-Ukraine war.
What did PM Modi say about meeting Zelensky?
PM Modi wrote on his official X account that he met President Zelensky in New York. He emphasized that both leaders are committed to implementing the decisions made during his visit to Ukraine last month in order to strengthen bilateral relations. PM Modi reiterated India’s support for resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict and restoring peace and stability.

Meanwhile, Zelensky appreciated PM Modi’s visit to Ukraine. He expressed gratitude for the efforts made by PM Modi to stop the war. During the meeting, PM Modi told Zelensky that a path to a ceasefire should be found. He also mentioned that he would continue discussing this issue with other leaders.
What is the way forward?
It is expected that during the BRICS summit in Russia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi may hold a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The issue of a ceasefire is likely to be discussed between the two leaders. The BRICS summit will take place in October in the city of Kazan, Russia. PM Modi has already conveyed to Putin that this is not an era of war.
Doval had arrived with a message.
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval recently visited Russia, carrying a message from PM Modi. He shared PM Modi’s message with President Putin, and the video of this meeting went viral globally. It is believed that by the end of the year, Zelensky might also visit India. Putin has also stated that he is in contact with India regarding the Ukraine issue.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that this is the third bilateral meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi this year. He mentioned that they are actively developing their relations and working together to strengthen cooperation in various areas.
Zelensky further stated that the main focus of their discussions was to enhance their dialogue on international platforms, especially the United Nations and G20, as well as to implement the peace framework and prepare for the second peace summit. He expressed gratitude for the clear support for their sovereignty and territorial integrity.
